We're seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer to lead the architecture and development of enterprise services for our behavioral health EHR platform. In this senior role, you'll design scalable APIs, optimize complex healthcare workflows, and mentor our development team across US and India offices. You'll tackle challenging problems including high-volume claims processing, real-time eligibility verification, multi-tenant architecture, and HIPAA-compliant data handling. Responsibilities:

Architect and develop enterprise-level backend services and APIs for our healthcare platform
Lead technical design decisions for scalable, maintainable, and secure solutions
Mentor junior and mid-level developers across US and India teams through code reviews and guidance
Design complex business logic for healthcare workflows including billing, claims processing, and clinical documentation
Optimize database performance and design efficient data access patterns
Establish coding standards, best practices, and development processes
Collaborate with product management to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Lead the implementation of microservices architecture and distributed systems
Design HIPAA-compliant solutions for handling sensitive healthcare data
Troubleshoot and resolve critical production issues affecting thousands of users
Drive performance optimization across the entire backend stack

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred)
7+ years of backend development experience with enterprise applications
Expert-level proficiency in object-oriented programming and design patterns
Strong experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
Deep expertise in database design, optimization, and SQL
Proven experience with high-traffic, high-availability systems
Strong understanding of security best practices and data protection
Experience leading technical projects and mentoring development teams
Expertise in performance profiling and optimization
Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Will be a plus:

Expertise in C# and .NET ecosystem (Core/.NET 5+)
Healthcare industry experience, particularly with EHR systems and medical billing
Deep knowledge of claims processing, ERAs, eligibility verification, and billing workflows
Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and architecture
Knowledge of event-driven architecture and message queuing systems
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security requirements
Experience managing offshore development teams, particularly in India
Knowledge of healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR, X12 EDI transactions)
Experience with multi-tenant SaaS application architecture
Expertise in Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and CQRS patterns
Knowledge of both SQL and NoSQL database systems
Experience with Java, Python, or similar enterprise languages
